About the Photographer

The photographer has spent much of his life observing nature. From his youth in Georgia wandering the woods, to his adult years exploring the high desert and mountains of Utah, he has always found great comfort and serenity in nature. The photographs presented in this web site testify to the love he has for the miraculous beauties surrounding us.

 

For many years the photographer worked in the environmental arena, much of that time a camera was within reach. Many days were spent in the air above the Utah landscape doing environmental work where a new perspective on nature was gained. It is in those places in the desert and the mountains that Ben does his best work.

 

Photography was always a favorite pastime, one that he shared with his father. Having been published in two books, several newsletters, and brochures Ben is gaining a considerable following. His goal is to make photographs that represent the majesty of the landscape around him; photographs that celebrate wild places and wild things.

 

Living just a short 30 min. drive from the San Rafael Swell in south-central Utah has given Ben the unique opportunity to spend many days and nights exploring, and photographing that incredible place. Other travels have given him the privilege of observing nature in diverse locations. This web site was created to share the amazing images of B.A. Grimes Photography.

 

Ben works with Medium Format and digital in his effort to capture the essence of the scene. Digital technology and software has provided the freedom to experiment with photography in ways his father could only dream of. Larger film format camera still provides unsurpassed image quality, and slows down the process allowing Ben to concentrate on the scene.
